I was at the gym this morning for my workout just like normal. I stopped to take a one minute break in between weight sets. I sat looking around at others in the weights room and noticed how everyone was doing different stuff. Some guys were using really heavy weights (one guy was a ‘machine!’. Some were using light weights. Others were doing 8 reps and some people were doing 15. As I caught my breath, ready to pull down my heavy load again, I asked myself the question “So who is right?”
It’s a little bit like the questions I hear a lot about email marketing to your list.
“How many emails should I be sending, and how often?”

It can be said that you can make money at the ‘click of a button’ when you hit ‘send’ on an email. While this can be true, there are some ground rules you need to play by before you reach that stage.
As a new lead joins your list after opting in to your ‘Awesome Free Offer’, it’s important to continue to build your relationship with that person. Yes, remember they are a person, and not just a number or statistic in your database. It’s likely that your new lead is also subscribed to many other lists. If you leave it for three weeks before sending out another email, they are going to look at your email and go ‘Who the heck is that? – DELETE!”
The best way to avoid becoming a stranger to your new lead is to set up your autoresponder system to send out 7-10 follow up emails that go out automatically after a new lead joins your list. The intention of these early emails is to allow your new prospect to get to know you, connect with you on social media and to lead them back to your website to see more of what you have to offer. After this initial series, they would then receive your regular email broadcasts or newsletters. Timing is less important than consistency. Don’t send three emails this week and then send nothing for three weeks. This is the quickest way to annoy your audience.
By sending regular emails to your leads will mean you will stay at the front of their mind. Not everybody is ready to buy what you have straight away. As you keep in touch through your email marketing you’ll be surprised at how many leads will become customers even after many months or longer. I’m always surprised when I have people purchase from me after being on my email list for 12 months or more.
The key to being welcome in your prospects’ inbox is to always provide value in your emails. Set inside your prospects shoes and think about the problems they want solved and questions they want answered. Use your emails to provide them with these solutions and answers. This will keep them engaged and interested in what you have to say. You will know you have hit the ‘sweet spot’ when you receive an email back from someone saying “Fay, you must have read my mind. That was just what I needed today!”
Your prospects will get to look forward to hearing from you and will eagerly await what you have to say next.
Of course you need to have emails where you make an offer to your list. This is the fundamental reason you create a list in the first place. Email marketing is still one of the best ways to earn regular income.
I’ve often heard that earnings can be calculated as $1 per lead on your list, per month. So a list of $1000 can have the potential to earn you $1000 per month. However, what I’ve discovered is that it’s more about the quality of your leads and the relationship you have with them that will determine how much you can earn from your email marketing.
As your prospects gain trust for your information, and you offer programs or products, they will be more inclined to buy them because they respect your opinion.
It’s a fact – people will unsubscribe from your list. It’s okay. Not everyone is your ideal prospect and if they don’t want to hear what you have to say, they certainly won’t be someone who buys from you. People will unsubscribe for many reasons and sometimes it’s just that they are having a bad hair day and your email landed in their inbox and they need to take their frustration out on something. Don’t take it personally. I always think of ‘unsubscribe’ as a good thing. It means my list is becoming even more targeted with my ideal prospects.
Watch your numbers and track statistics regularly and be sure you continue to do something everyday to marketing your business and build your list.
It doesn’t matter how good your product, service or offer is. If you don’t have a list to market to, the rest doesn’t matter.
My focus for the next 90 days is to build my list. And I’ll be using everything in Email Marketing to make sure my follow up is building relationships and monetized.

In this short post I will share some online marketing secrets that goo-roos are afraid to tell you. For some people trying to do marketing online, it’s no wonder you have been frustrated and have struggled; this post will help.
I remember when I first started working my new marketing business back in 2009 and I hit my first four figure week. I was speaking to a friend and prospect telling her that I was looking for clients like a crazy woman; going to networking events, chatting to people on Facebook and working my butt off to get ahead and into making some serious money in this new business venture.
When I was explaining to this friend about what I was doing she said, “That sounds like the hard way, I thought you were just going to use the Internet”. And there goes unrealistic expectation person off to their doom…
What it does do though is prove my point. Most small business entrepreneurs go to the Internet out of weakness. They use it because they do NOT want to improve their skills in connecting with people. Many of them use the internet because they believe it will be simpler and easier. The fact of the matter is learning online marketing takes longer, has a huge learning curve and has the potential to be more costly than the traditional methods. Does this mean I just don’t like Marketing online? Absolutely NOT! I just want to be sure you know some secrets that the guru’s know but don’t tell you…
Marketing in of itself takes a long time to learn. Identifying your target market and ideal prospect, attracting people with good copy and creating a website, your email autoresponder messages, hosting and your social media accounts will put a STOP to about 42% of all folks from ever moving forward. If you DO possess skills in the technical department, you might still find challenges on what to communicate to your target prospects to attract them. All of this takes patience, time and determination. Especially if you don’t have mentorship, guidance or a system to follow.
IF you want to get fast results for your online business you will need to move your focus from CHASING to attraction marketing. To get better at attracting more leads and clients you will want to simply get better at just connecting with other human beings and offering greater value. Also, if you offer more value to people you won’t have to get a hundred leads per day just to make a sale. You will convert a whole lot more than that.
1. Make a commitment to create ONE piece of content everyday but don’t bank on it getting you instant results at first.
2. Connect with 5-10 potential clients or customers every day. Either on twitter, you tube, Facebook, linkedin. This is a number to aim for if you are working your business part time. If you are full time – you should be contacting 20-100 per day IF you have a determination to make good money quickly.
3. Get out and about. Attend any major event that happens for your industry and live events that put you amongst other online marketing experts. Understand that you don’t need to buy everything, but instead, absorb the knowledge and network with those of success.

Connection, Conversation and Consistency to Create Lead Generation
Business can be as simple as one, two, three.
You really don’t need to go any further than that. One is that you need customers or leads to connect with, two, you need to communicate with them, and three, you need to be consistent.
Today, I want to focus on the third element – consistency.
We all know that there is a never ending stream of marketing activities to help you build your list. Things like article marketing, blogging, forums, public speaking, social media, paid advertising and many more.
One of the biggest mistakes many business owners make is starting one kind of activity and then continually jumping on to the next marketing activity when they get frustrated with a lack of results. Then what happens is they jump on to the next activity and start that for a week, or two and perhaps again, get results they are less than happy with. Without realizing it, what’s going on here, is that they are killing any chances of building momentum.
One of the biggest keys to success is consistency. When we do something repeatedly and consistently, not only do we get really skillful at it, we also build momentum, and, send a message to our clients many might not even be aware of.
Nothing is worse than if I check your website and find you only blog occasionally. Or if I visit your social media pages only to see that your business page has not been posted on for a month. Neither of these is being consistent. If your potential clients find these things out about you, they can begin to be doubtful or fearful around whether or not you will be around long enough to support them.
Do you lack confidence? Be consistent. It’s amazing how much more confident you will become with this one simple change.
Often new business owners tell me they lack the time to implement their marketing plan. Our first step is to analyze where they are currently spending their time. We often see that the masterminding, skype chatting and general outings have become time vampires rather than real profit producing activities. Realizing that it really only takes a few hours each week to write a few blog posts, to send out a regular newsletter and to keep social media updated, they can easily fit these into their schedule.
Be consistent with less….
It’s easy to feel extra pressure if you’re doing a launch of some sort, or it’s coming into a busy time of the year for you …..this is not the time to become inconsistent. Your current list is important, even if there are only a few hundred people on it. Don’t neglect them! Don’t neglect your social media followers for a week while you are ‘distracted by something big’ or they might not respond the way you want when you ‘come back’!
Unfortunately, far too many home based business owners think they can still earn enormous profits even though they want to only work when it’s ‘convenient’. This is what I call a ‘Hobby Owner’, rather than a ‘Business Owner’. This inconsistent behaviour can cost them an enormous amount of money.
Don’t try to do everything! Pick just 2 or 3 of your ideal marketing activities and commit to 90 days. For 90 days, complete these activities on a regular, consistent basis. Regardless of which activities you choose; blog, write articles, email marketing; do these consistently! You will see a spike in your results and be amazed at the momentum you will create.
Consistency will become your best friend.
But mark my words- it’s not magic, it’s work.
If you’re willing to give it a try and do your very best everyday, you too can generate incredible results. Before you know it, you’ll have more leads and clients than you know what to do with and will need some coaching on managing all of your success.

Here are 5 easy steps to making your way into top search rankings:
Step #1 Do Your Keyword Research: You’ve probably heard this time and time again. The question is though – have you done it recently? This step is essential is you want to learn to make money online. There are several tools to help you research popular keywords. I like using a combination of Google Keyword Tool and Market Samurai.
Some guidelines to follow are to look for words or phrases that have low competition (less than 100,000 SEOC), but are also getting a minimum of 10 clicks. This is the number of clicks you could expect per day if you were positioned in the top placing on Google.
Step #2: Write and Publish Blog Posts: Select one or two keywords from the list you have created in Step #1. Don’t focus on more than one or two for any individual post or article. Write a post that includes your keywords or phrases about every 100 words. Your post should ideally be around 400 words long. Create a trackable link using Google url builder, bit.ly or hypertracker). Use this trackable link to link your image and call to action at the end of your post to your opt in page. Install the All in One SEO Pack Plug-in to optimize your posts by including your target keywords into the title, description and keywords area.
Step #3 Spread Your Article Around: The more places you can put your post the more likely it is to be found by people searching for your targeted keywords which will help your rankings. The first place of course, is to place it onto your own website. Then you can use an article submission tool or select to simply manually upload your article to 4 or 5 of the main authority article sites such as http://www.ezinearticles.com/ http://www.goarticles.com or http://www.articlesbase.com
Step #4 Submit Your Post to Social Media Sites: Now that you have your post or article uploaded onto your own website, and have submitted it to the main article directories, it’s time to send links to other major social media sites. Post a comment on Facebook, a tweet on Twitter as well as send your post to any groups you are connected to on LinkedIn. But don’t stop there. There is enormous power by adding your post to sites such as Digg.com, Stumble Upon and Technorati. These sites have incredible traffic and can be great sources of massive lead generation. These sites are all free to create an account and add content to.
Step #5: More Google Juice With Backlinks: In short, backlinks are incoming links to a website from another site. The more backlinks you can create the stronger your ranking position will be. As well as the social media sites, research other well visited sites in your niche or industry where you are able to comment, post or add value. For search engines, backlinks are a way to see which sites are recommending one another and play a key role in calculating a sites’ ”rank”. When you are trying to get more links to your site, the first thing you will want to do is find other sites that are talking about things that are similar to you.
Create several new blog posts or articles each week and follow this simple routine each time and you will find yourself jumping up in the Google rankings for many of your niche related keywords, driving more traffic and creating massive lead generation for your business. This is just one success factor when you learn to make money online!

Are you leaving thousands of dollars on the table?
I was conducting a marketing seminar a couple of years ago and I asked the question “How many people know exactly who is visiting their website?” I remember one lady as she chimed in saying “I have Google Analytics so yes, I know exactly how many hits I have and where they come from.”
After congratulating her on having the tracking statistics I went on to explain that knowing the number of ‘hits’ was of absolutely no use if she wasn’t capturing the visitors or prospects’ email information and name. This is the only way she is able to develop a list of people who are interested in her product, and to continue to market to them.
It’s one of the most basic strategies for successful online marketing, yet one I still see so many people not using.
The process is what’s called a Lead Capture Page. It can also be referred to as a Squeeze Page but they all serve the same function.
If someone lands on your website, we can safely assume that they have an interest in something to do with the information you have.
The sole purpose of a Lead Capture Page is to collect the name and email address of someone who may be interested in your product or service. In other words, the main purpose of your Lead Capture Page should be to generate a lead..
A good Lead Capture Page is usually a one page site with some intriguing copy that encourages the visitor to fill out the form, commonly called an ‘opt in form’, with their name and email address and request more information. When a new prospect fills out the opt in form on your website with their name and email address, they can then be automatically directed to another page to receive the information they requested.
If you then connect an Autoresponder system to this opt in form, you can continue to provide your prospects with additional information about your product or service through a series of automated follow-up messages.
You can generate more opt in leads by giving away something free in exchange for a prospect’s contact information such as a free report or free download. This is often the bit that prevents most people from taking action to create their lead capture page. This free report doesn’t have to be an enormous long report. In fact short, concise, useful information is best. The information should be about what your prospects want most. You might choose to create a 5 or 7 step video series instead of a written report. Videos are proving to be converting well at the moment.
If we look at the page as a whole; an effective Lead Capture Page will have an emotion grabbing headline, some short body copy or bullet points, and a Call to Action. This page should have all the components of what is known as the AIDA formula:
The Call to Action is the text that is used to get the prospect to request more information.
Once again, the main purpose of the Lead Capture Page is to .Generate A Lead..

After mentoring and coaching small business owners now for several years and I still see so many have websites that are nothing more than a pretty brochure. These sites are focused on information all about the business, rather than being an effective client attraction tool that will get more highly qualified leads and ultimately, more sales.
Entrepreneurs get an idea to create a business. First comes their new business card and then creating a website is often next on their priority list. (I can’t say I always agree with this, but that’s another day.) They set about creating a beautiful looking website with a few words and lots of pretty pictures. Then sit back and wonder why their sales aren’t increasing.
It can be hard enough to attract new clients to your website, without having them visit your site, only to leave again and you not knowing who was there. You might have some statistics from something like Google Analytics where you can look up your ‘hits’. But this statistic is really useless if you have no way of capturing your ideal clients’ details so that you can continue to provide them with interesting information and offers to buy from you.
So the goal becomes creating something that makes people say, “That’s what I want!” and they give you their name and contact details. Or you might say they ‘opt in to your list’. Your list is one of your businesses major assets. It continues to grow as you grow your business. The size of your list is important; the bigger the better. But what’s more important is that you create a list of highly targeted clients who already want what you offer. I like to refer to this free opt in offer as your “Awesome Free Offer” or AFO.
When people are searching the internet, they are looking for a solution to something. They want their problems solved. You have to understand that no one wants to read about how many certificates you have, or receive yet another newsletter. But they do want you to tell them how to make their problem go away. Here are some examples of ‘awesome free offers’. A dog trainer might offer “5 ways to stop your dog digging holes”. A fitness instructor might offer “7 keys to an effective workout in less than 30 minutes per day”. A business trainer might offer “7 big reasons people don’t become millionaires and what you should do to become one.”
Use a ‘number’ in your offer title and decide if it is going to be steps, keys or tips that you are going to share. This gives the impression (correctly so), that it is relatively easy to achieve the result you are offering. And people like the sound of ‘easy’.
There are many ways you can present your opt in offer (AFO) that don’t need to take a lot of time or money.
Here are some ideas you might want to consider to attract new clients:
Any of these ideas can by used, or if you want to be clever, you can combine them to add more value. Keeping it simple though is always a good idea. Too much information can confuse your prospect.
Here’s the SECRET! What is the result your clients want that you can create? This is what you offer in your Awesome Free Offer. For example, I can help you get more clients. What are your results that you can teach, prove and achieve with any number of people?
People want a FAST FIX! The QUICKEST way to give them to what they want is key. What is the result that people want that you can deliver? This should be the main statement of your opt in offer.
As your list grows, you can continue to use simple marketing strategies to turn prospects into loyal clients.
